I have a love-hate relationship with Ankara (African print,). I love how colourful and vibrant Ankara fabric is but I have a phobia of delving too far out of my comfort zone when it comes to colour so Ankara is usually reserved for weddings and events in Nigeria. I rediscovered my love for Ankara about a month ago when I decided to rearrange my wardrobe. I randomly pulled out this Ankara dress which had been custom made for me a few years ago but had never seen the light of day. I have since dusted off the rest of my Ankara pieces and to be honest as spring is here, it is the perfect time to add come colour to my wardrobe.
With the winter blues still in full flow, Valentine’s Day is a welcome distraction to look forward to and get excited about. However, coming up with gift ideas for that special someone in your life can be very difficult. But fear not, I’ve come up with gifts that are bound to impress. Feminism seems to be a topic on everyones lips at the moment, with lots of debates and opinions on what it means to be a feminist or what feminism means for different women. It also seems like fashion brands are increasingly embracing women rights and shining a light on the issue. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s feminist statement at her debut at Dior seemed to reinvigorate the conversation within the fashion industry. It also had me thinking about an issue I wrote about a while ago that I finally decided to share on this blog. Despite designers using the women empowerment rhetoric as an accessory or a trend, it’s important to remember that feminism is not a trend and it is also important to examine the fashion industry and whether it could be considered anti-feminist.

It’s that time of the year again and as we know, its holiday/ party season so it’s safe to say that for the next few weeks, the dress code is strictly ‘festive’. Tis the season to buy an obscene amount of new dresses and not feel guilty about it because you know they will be put to good use. But, as we all know eating is as much a part of the festivities so here are my top picks of comfortable party dresses, complete with elasticated waists, flattering shapes and frills that are oh-so-giving and will take you from meal time to dance floor.
Fall is always a beloved season for people who love fashion. The weather is just enough to dance away from summer dresses and be creative with the sometimes tricky art of layering.’ Similarly, it is also a big deal for designers who are always gearing up to offer new trends for the switching of the season. Autumn/Winter 2016 trends may be polar opposites in themes, though they are still bound by the collective loudness and energy that demands them to be watched. Below are some of the top-line fashion trends of the season.
&amp;lt;br /&amp;gt;<br /><br /> I love autum, the cold nights, layering outfits and the fact that it is completely acceptable to wear all black outfits. However, there’s something about summery colours that I just can’t let go of. But who says we have to choose? play around with colours and layering like I’ve done here.
Some days I am in the mood to go full glam but other days, all I want to do is throw on a hoodie and be comfortable, but comfort does not have to mean sacrificing your style. Everyone has that favourite hoodie in their wardrobe, making an appearance after a long day or during lazy winter days. Hoodies should not be cast away as something that only makes an appearance when we’re binge watching something on Netflix but it could be something that you can wear any day, any time, no matter if it’s summer, spring or winter outside. I recently embraced wearing a hoodie and dressing down a lot more so I decided to put together some casual style tips to try an elevate an outfit on any lazy day.
