The collection by the Korean-born, London-based designer was everything I love in a collection, minimal, impeccable tailoring and great presentation. The designer opted for a presentation to reveal her SS17 collection because according to the designer, the collection is ‘in need of a closer look’. The J JS LEE SS17 collection allowed both the fashion crowd and the general public to really interact with the collection and really immerse themselves in the experience. Titled School of Thought: The class of SS17, the collection was inspired by the idea of school uniforms and subtle rebelliousness that comes as a school girl. It was incredibly apt that the presentation was at the Conde Nast College of Fashion & Design, which for me, really elevated the experience and it’s always great being back at the college.
The presentation featured models spinning around the revolving dance floor and then walking along and stopping in front of a backdrop of varying colour strips. The collection was beautifully minimalist and the tailoring was really well executed as usual. I particularly loved the layering with tulle, the asymmetric waist lines and the psychedelic prints. Already looking forward to Spring/ Summer 2017.
